This is now the third two year calender I have had. Each month is shown on the left and right hand page with a great picture of some kittens. The calender allows me to keep track of appointments even if they are over a year away and also look back at what I have done. The great thing is it fits in my purse.

Great book to get started and definitely worth reading if you want to take your GMAT prep serious and want to start from scratch.I actually really enjoyed reading this book.This book is kind of unnecessary for test re-takers. You won't learn anything new here because you already know how the GMAT works.

I was on the fence about getting this book. I already own the previous edition of the Manhattan guide (of which this is not a part), among many other prep books, so I didn't know how it would benefit me. Turns out this was everything I was questioning. This book shows such a clear picture and gives great advice for anyone just starting their GMAT journey.I received the book on Friday and scarcely put it down before it was finished two days later. The book doesn't give any real test content instruction, but it gives the basics of many of the question types and the strategies needed to conquer every aspect of the test. It walks the reader through present to CAT tests to advanced prep and then the test itself.If you have any doubts about the test, buy this book. It will help you.

A note for those of you thinking about purchasing the kindle edition:In general, the book looks fine; however, there are some text tables in the book that do not dynamically resize and have their far right columns truncated by the screen in portrait view. To be able to read all of the columns, you need to switch your kindle from portrait to landscape. It took me a little while to figure this out, and thought I would share my (very small) discovery with the rest of you here.Out of fear that there would be formatting problems, I decided to buy the kindle version of this book before committing to buying the other books that make up the Manhattan GMAT Complete Strategy Guide Set, 5th Edition (Manhattan Gmat Strategy Guides: Instructional Guide). Given that this kindle book has generally been readable and well-formatted, I will probably buy a content-area kindle book to see how it is. I am curious to see how the sample questions are formatted in kindle version.The information in this book is very useful. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in education, and the Manhattan GMAT authors have done a very good job of using current ideas about learning and applying them to the problem of preparing for the GMAT. If the other books in the GMAT series are as well-written and well-grounded in education/learning theory as this volume, I imagine they will be quite helpful.

Do you know how to improve your accuracy? How to analyze your tests? How to make GMAT studying fun?If you know the answers to these questions, then skip the book, otherwise, get it.~~~ Summary ~~~Yes, this book teaches you how to crawl, but you must know how to crawl before you walk or run. You will get much more value from getting a few of these tips nailed rather than working on those 750+ questions). This book is the collective MGMAT wisdom on anything from a good study routine all the way to what to eat. It is missing a few things and is not perfect but I feel anyone can learn from it quite a bit (I did with my 750 and I felt it was well worth the $16 and includes access to 6 MGMAT tests).~~~ Pros: ~~~- Includes access to 6 online CAT's- All advice is interesting to read whether you know it or not- Provides good study habits (don't study for more than 2 hrs without a break)- Tips from other test takers and instructors (separate sections)- Tips for international students (though very brief)- Good section on timing- Includes a detailed overview of the test (in case you missed it on MBA.com or other books)- Good tips for each question type (most of these covered already in other guides)~~~ Cons ~~~~- Some advice is too obvious to be useful- Some sections and common questions are not covered such as re-taking the GMAT- The RC tips and suggestions were very weak- The chapter on the test day expectation is very short and misses many questions that come up with applicants- I would welcome more longer success Stories (such as on page 167, instead of snippets)- The brain foods section (no joking) could be substantially improved -I have seen some great tips on GMAT Club on brain foods as well as what to eat on the exam/during break/etc (and no, it is not as obvious as "no burritos por favor")~~~ My Own Suggestions (in addition) ~~~- Start with a practice (diagnostic test)- You need quality time. The book provides a lot of suggestions for getting snippets of time here or there but it is really the quality time (morning for some and evening for others) that provides the most improvement- Don't skip or move past a section until you're able to solve 90% of the questions correctly (timed of course). That is if you want 700+- Never solve questions without timing yourself (unless it is quick drills)- Don't jump into the hardest areas first - build confidence instead with what you know and can demonstrate progress at- Start every new day with the review of what you have learned the day before- Finally, make notes for everything you cover - it helps tremendously to retain what you have learnedBest Regards,BB, Founder of GMAT ClubGMAT 750 (49, 42)P.S. Very good pointers for studying and it has helped to relieve some of the anxiety created by preparing for the test. I feel like I know what to expect come test day.

I am preparing to take the GMAT in Jan 2014 and I read so many positive reviews about this Manhattan series of GMAT prep books and I can tell from this first book that buying it was a great decision. So many great tips for the test and the many authors of the material have a holistic approach to getting prepared mentally and physically. What I enjoyed most about this book was it's honesty and expectation building wisdom. Now I am off to start studying the actual material but this first book was a true treasure.

Penelope Keith's PBS "Hidden Villages" is a TV road trip following a 1930's Batsford Guide to quaint villages. We got hooked. It's one of the best shows on TV.Here is a Batsford update to accompany the superb series. It's the best show for several reasons not the least of which is that my wife and I have B&B'd in several of the Batsford Guide's villages over the years. The opportunity to revisit these amazing places and more has been just to tantalizing. We've expanded our "next trip" must-see list to regions we've not visited.I pre-ordered this edition as a gift for my wife. The first thing you notice here is the Batsford Guide's use of the familiar block-print style cover art. This edition is a modern pictography and narrative of the original Hidden Villages and more. It's a beautiful quality book more than adequate.You simply can't keep your hands off it. More than expected. If you enjoy British village vacations, here's the place to chart your next whimsy.

A well written book that has little to do with the Penelope Keith series of the same name. Clare Gogerty wrote the descriptions with help from older Batsford guide books. The illustrations by Brian Cook are an Arts & Crafts delight. Gogerty gives a brief history of how Cook's watercolors came to be. There are 11 areas discussed, but wouldn't a map have helped even those who live in England? A map would help in better planning a trip - go here and there because they are close to one another. Like every guide book, this one needs another and a map to make village touring a reality.

Nice book following the Penelope Keith TV show. Great photos, very nice quality, although, 4 pages needed to be cut apart that must have slipped through the printing process. This is NOT the original book she uses as a reference for the show.

I've always wanted to visit the villages of England and some day I will, but in the meantime I can do some armchair traveling in this lovely book.

My husband got this book for me after we watched a show about the Batsford travel books, with Brian Cook’s illustrations. The woman, Penelope...sorry can’t remember her last name, is a well known actress in England and she was using it to recreate the trips described. It made me want to do that as well! Beautiful art work!

I already owned the Rick Steves & Lonely Planet Barcelona guide books, but decided to purchase this due to the extensive photos and recommendations from a friend. I'm so glad I did as this book gave us a much better visual of the areas, and was the book I carried around with me while touring. It also includes more sites, including minor ones in the area that the other books do not mention. By learning about these other sites, we were able to vary our walking routes a little and see some interesting sites we otherwise wouldn't have known existed. The street/area picture diagrams were so helpful. I also purchased the Rome version of this book, and again was so glad I did for the same reasons.On the flipside, I don't think the info was thorough enough to be the only guidebook to a city. It was the perfect companion to my Rick Steves book, but lacked the information about how to get tickets in advance, skip the long admission lines, and background info that Rick Steves gives. Rick Steves has very few photos, and doesn't include many of the extra sites around the major sites, so having both books was extremely helpful.

This travel guide was very well written with short, detailed information on a number of sights. It included hotel and restaurant recommendations, a survival guide with practical information and it also included a pull out map. The map was okay, but not as detailed as I would have liked. I did like the fact that when the map was folded there was an excellent easy to read map of the city metro system. Some of the other listings in the guide were related to shopping tips, a glossary of typical Catalan food, eating hours (meal times), entertainment information, music, film...etc. I actually used one of the restaurant recommendations and it was spot on. A great meal at around the price reflected in the guide. We also saw the Flamenco show (Tablao de Carmen) which was also recommended and it was fabulous. There are several show options and we chose the show with tapas menu. We were supposed to get five Tapas and sangria and all I can say is that the food just kept coming and when we finished a pitcher of sangria another was quickly brought to us. The meal was excellent and a great value. The Flamenco show itself was incredible - very professional with a live band and singers as well as three female and one male dancer.

DK Eyewitness Travel Guides are very useful. If I were rank them based on my use, I'd give them five stars; I use them because often a picture is worth 1000 words in terms of helping me understand where I want to put my tourist time. Then I use them again to remind me of locations when I am sorting through photographs of my trip. For those two purposes they excel. Some of the other sections on customs, holidays, language, food can be helpful as well.What you won't find in these guides, this one included, is the quaint little hotel with comfortable reasonably priced rooms and family welcome, nor the little out of the way restaurant, nor finally the last word in history and analysis of monuments.What I might wish for as the "ideal guide" is one with lots of pictures, Michelin Green Guide style rankings (*** = make an express trip, ** = make a detour to see, * = see if you're in the neighborhood), planned driving and walking itineraries, and then some Rough Guide or Routard style food and lodging recommendations.

I have the travel bug...big time.I'm not the type of person that loves to dig into articles to read about the places I will be visiting, so Eyewitness Travel Guides are perfect...I skim through each travel guide before I leave, and mark the places that I'd like to visit with a post-it note. In this case, as soon as I arrived in Barcelona, I read more about the places I was seeing.This book has a lot of great tips on the places to see in and around Barcelona. I found some great beaches and was very happy to get lost around Las Ramblas.I recommend grabbing this guide before your next trip to Barcelona...it isn't too heavy and it has all the maps you need in the front & back covers.

I love the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides...when time is short and one wants to focus a trip on the key factors this book is a great resource. The points are concise and clear. Lots of pictures, lots of suggestions. Best restaurants, hotels, sites to see in each part of the city. Very helpful!

We love the DK books. We're casual adventurers who don't do much in terms of tours, but rather prefer to immerse ourselves in the culture we are visiting. The DK books are a great way to do that in a safe way as it gives you the highlights of places, enough history to give you perspective and appreciation, solid recommendations as to food, hotels, etc., and excellent tips on cultural aspects for which we should be on the lookout. Easy to read maps. We did Barcelona with this book and the Top Ten and had a fantastic time.

I had been to Barcelona twice before buying this book to plan a trip with my mother. I planned the trip exclusively with this guidebook and we had a blast. The book had great information and beautiful pictures. It made it really easy to figure out what was in Barcelona and what we wanted to see. The maps and directions were extremely helpful. I don't think I got lost once, which is a big deal because I'm extremely terrible with directions and locations.

We used this beautiful Eyewitness Guide in Barcelona. It is not heavy and easily fit into my purse. In fact, we saw many tourists from a number of various countries walking with their Eyewitness Travel Guide in a plethora of languages. We wouldn't travel without it.

Great book, especially for beginners like me. It is written in a conversational format that flows easily. I'm not much of a reader and I found this book to be engaging and an easy page-turner. Technical jargon was explained well and there were a TON of resources listed throughout the book to delve deeper into topics of interest or tools of your choice. To me this book opened my eyes to the world of Google's search engine and I learned many things about it that I never knew before or had any idea even existed. But if you're an SEO pro, chances are you already know most of what's in the book. Don't let that discourage you if you dabble though. I thought this book was pretty up to date on info and in the very least one could learn what's coming around the bend, as well as new types of technology. For me, I feel as though I gained a valuable, all encompassing picture of SEO and it will help me to create a strategy to move forward with ranking goals.

This was why I purchased this book in the first place.The bonus chapters on pay per click advertising and analytics are a nice touch, and are the icing on the cake as you truly have everything you need to get started marketing your business in the search engines.Don't let this book get into the hands of your competitors. This is a solid resource on SEO optimization!!. I have a basic understanding of SEO already but it's ssoooo difficult to find a resource that puts everything together all in one place. I feel like this book covers the inner game of SEO so I have a much better understanding of the fundamental information. I also learned the practical steps so I can start improving my rankings it's truly a great book on this topic!!

Why did I choose this book? Because there was a ton of positive reviews and I'm in the process of mastering local SEO and local business lead generation online.What was my experience? There was a lot covered. I wish there were more specifics and how to do SEO. I wish this was a more practical guide. It's a lot like a report on SEO, the history, speculation on future Google updates, Etc. It could be much more applicable for optimizing a site, though it did a good job providing most of those details.Would I recommend it to others? Absolutely. It's a broad overview of SEO and it goes deep enough to help you implement all the things that you need to implement to optimize your site. It should get you most of the way to optimizing your site for the search engines.

This is really up to date information with many references and by my opinion should be more expensive than it is. Adam Clarke is very knowledgeable about the subject and offers his own advice supported by reasoning on Google's activity. It is easily read material which a sprinkled with subtle comments. This makes reading more interesting reading by keeping attention, because the subject matter is dry; this is a important tactic.
