3.5 starsVol. 1 was very good. Vol. 2 and 3 were both decent. The concept is fun and entertaining - Doc Ock is living in Peter Parker's body and has made a very strong argument that he is better at being Spiderman. Peter had been lingering around in the brain, occasionally forcing Ock's hand to do the right thing. Otto got tired of this and wiped Peter away. This solved that problem, but now when Otto meets people that he is supposed to know or tries to remember equations that Peter wrote, he can't. This pops up in this issue when he faces Spider-Man 2099, whom Peter fought alongside a while back. The dialogue is hokey at times, though that may have been intentionally done to allow old-time readers to wax nostalgic about 70s comics. In this volume, Otto is becoming more unhinged. It is amusing to watch him rant in anger. At this point, anyone who knows what Spider-Man is really like has begun to realize that it isn't Peter under the mask.

Well, Superior Spider-Man is STILL the best Spider-Man series I've read. BUT it has taken on a few flaws. Most glaring is its lack of violence. Encounters which could have erupted into no-holds-barred mega-battles are resolved in a few panels. Lame. Otto has shown an inclination toward over-the-top and effective violence. Where is it in this book?Black Cat, Stunner, Hobgoblin, Spider-Man 2099, and even a few anachronistic threats (like a T-Rex) from within a time warp! The entrance of each threat is dramatic, interesting, and tense. But the actual struggles just fizzle out.If you are looking for the excitement of the first three books, sorry. Not here. But the story moves on meaningfully. The writing is entertaining. If you are already a die-hard fan, read this one. If not, you can skip it. The next volume in the series gets better.Plus, 2099 Spidey is so lame and annoying. The writers have given him interesting colloquialisms from the future, but his subplot really does not belong. It feels tacked on in an amateur way. How that corny character got on the cover I will never understand.

This was a very interesting issue. Spider-Man 2099 has come from the future into the past to stop Alchemax from messing up the future by allowing Alchemax to mess up the future. Or something like that. I had to read it a couple times to understand the plot, but it still made for a great story. As The Spidey of the future and the Superior Spidey face off, things get pretty crazy. My only complaint is that Dan Slott seems hellbent on ruining all of Peter's relationships, from MJ to Max Modell. Other than that is was a good read that moved the plot along as well as letting us enjoy some Spidey 2099.

With some of the best art work in Superior Spider-Man thus far by Ryan Stegman and Guiseppe Camuncoli, volume 4 of SpOck's adventures is a treat to view on each page. And no surprise to me, Dan Slott continues to weave his magic through his prose and the plot thickens heavily in this latest volume. Together Slott, Stegman and Camuncoli have a cohesive monster of a story. This is some of the best Spider-Man out, and by the end of Superior Spider-Man, Slott may very well be considered one of the best Spidey writers ever.

Once again Dan Slott's writing propels this book( the art is Great as well). Bringing the Spider-man from 2099 to the past and getting him stuck here was an interesting development(I always liked the 2099 spider-man as well). The rise of Alchemax, explosion of Horizon Labs, Dr. Peter Parker and Goblin Nation( with Carlie Coopers kidnapping) advancing to the conclusion of the Superior book make volume 4 a Great part of the collection. This all makes it easier than chasing down individual issues, and vol 5 is due in April!

This was a fantastic read! The appearance of Spider-Man 2099! Peter getting his doctorate! The return of Black Cat! This story had so much going on and I really enjoyed this volume!

I really like this series and this book is an integral piece of it. The writing and art are also superior.

loved it. would give 10 stars if possible
