So I couldn't make it past about 75% through book 2 of the series, and that was a struggle.What started as a out good, if not great concept, quickly devolved into a story about a once competent man sliding rapidly into idiocy as a woman leads him around by his d^*k. It began simply, with accepting a job he would otherwise have avoided. It progressed into engaging in whatever moronically irrational plan she concocted. And ultimately he became properly trained to make the asinine decisions all on his own.As this is happening, a steady stream of supporting characters proceed to tell him that he is undeserving of the woman's affection, and that they will destroy him if he ever hurts her. This despite him being one of the only people that has loyally stood by the woman since the beginning, despite him being the only competent fighter supporting her, despite the fact that she can't seem to act without making a disaster of everything, and despite her making decisions that nearly get her companions killed on a routine basis. Somehow he's the one that is undeserving?It's so rare these days to find a story written in the last few decades that doesn't revolve around a man's slide into senility at the prompting of a woman. It's a sad indicator of a culture in decline.
My third read from author Jacob Peppers. I'd gotten the Kindle edition for The Silent Blade back in April and never got around to reading it until the author gave me an Audfans audible edition for it, after reading/listening to it I went right out & bought A Sellsword’s Compassion while it was on sale, then I went & got the Audible edition since the first narration was so good. Owning both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while listening. Great read, great narration, Steven Brand has become the voice of Aaron Envelar! Then I got A Sellsword's Wrath while it was on sale & WOW! As good as the first books were this one was even better! What other blurbs can I use to describe these books? Oh well, buy the book, read the books, get into a good author and some good characters as I have. On to book #3 as soon as I buy it!. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Aaron is one of the stupidest and incompentant main characters I've read about in awhile. The author writes the story like nothing is wrong, while at the same time Aaron fails at everything he does, and is constantly saved by other people. How is it that Aaron was recognized walking to a tavern while the Princess wasn't? Plus, the whole situation with his friend was just ridiculous. Theres a difference between denial and grossly exaggerated stupidity.
The author successfully entrails the reader in the life of the main character. His confusions, aggressiveness, poor choices, loyalty, and so much more. Good read although, as I state in many books, the foul language adds nothing to the read and detracts for readers like me who do not use or care for it.
A Sellsword's Wrath is the second book in the Seven Virtues series. There's a good balance between characters and action. There's also a bit more romance. The evil characters are truly evil and our hero also struggles with his more monstrous side. The pace slows a few times, usually at the lighter moments. There's plenty of plotting by the different people in power. I wasn't convinced that Adina's sister could be so opposite to her - maybe in character, but not in looks. I already own a Sellsword's Resolve and will be reading that next!
Jacob tell an amazing story with believable twists and turns in a fantastic race to the end. I recommend his stories to everyone.
Decent read, but really needs to find an editor that will clean up the more painful grammatical errors that repeatedly occur throughout.
I’m seriously enjoying these books. Characters are easy to like...and hate lol.. excellent storyline. I’m a huge fan of fantasy and the like. This series hits the nail on the head. I have bought all of these for my kindle. Moving on to book 3
